Rome, Italy (July 2022)

Updated: Jun 24, 2024

On my way to Egypt for the longest summer vacation of my life (that requires a whole seperate post), I had a long... and I mean LONG layover in Rome. 24 hours "stranded" in Europe. If you thought I stayed in the airport, you thought wrong. Me, my mom and my sister, rushed off the airplane and through customs so we can wander around as much as we can. We walked from the Vatican to the Colosseum... I'll let you figure out how far that was. Traveling with my family is not the easiest. There is always too many bags, too many ideas, too many different types of patience and weather tolerances, too many different types of walking paces, too many arguments about who's tired and who's not. But imagine this, 3 girls in what could be the worst shoe decision they've ever made, walking around for 18 hours straight. Anything for the pictures right?

Now, because this was a trip with my family not much was done besdies seeing the Vatican, the Colosseum, a few churches in between on our walk, some pizza and gelato.

HOWEVER, the one tip I will give you is that if you have the luxury and time to walk around Rome (or Italy or Europe) do it. It might not be a historical or famous sight that you are visiting, but it's beauty is something you won't see back home.
