Rome, Italy (May 2024)

Yes, I did go back to Rome again. I dont think the first time counts seeing as how it was just a layover trip. This time however, I stayed in Rome for two days and one night when I first arrived and then again for the last week of my month long trip. This Italy trip was for a Study Abroad Program, however I think we did more traveling than studying. In Rome we visitied the Fontana Di Trevi (the Trevi Fountain), The Spanish Steps, The Collosium, The Vatican, The Pantheon, and local shops.

Our first dinner in Rome we went to a place near the Collosium. We knew better than to eat in such a touristy location, but we were tired of walking around all day and were getting hangry. We went in not knowing how much we were going to pay, and walked out paying 22.5 euros each... roughtly $25 for a plate of pasta and a spritiz. Now to us Americans, this seems so cheap and it is especially for the New Yorkers that would pay $60 for the same meal in NYC. However, after telling the locals, they told us that we were scammed and payed way more than we should've. This meal in Italy should have costed around 15 euros.

MUST TRY:

  • Aperol Spritz (there are no open container laws in Italy, grab an Aperol to go and roam Rome.)

  • Cappuchino (don't order it after 11am)

  • Cornetta (croissiants) yes, that is more french than Italian but they are really good.

  • Cured meats in a Cornetta (italy is all about their pork and cured meats... if your not a meat person like me, good luck.)

I wasnt a fan of the pizza in Rome. Rome is known for their cold pizza and being from NYC i wanted that hot, fresh pizza.

My last week in Rome I spent it with the Coptic Orthodox Bishop Bernaba of the Itay Diocese.

Rome was probably my least favorite city in Italy and I usually love historical places... don't attack me.
